Kathy Eckles Hooker | Author Biography

Kathy Eckles Hooker grew up in Virginia, attended Oberlin College in Ohio and moved to the Navajo Nation with her husband Bill in the mid-seventies. There, she began learning about the Navajo culture by teaching Navajo students at a Bureau of Indian Affairs Boarding School in Dilkon, Arizona.

After living several years on the Navajo Nation, Kathy, her husband and their first daughter Megan moved to Flagstaff, Arizona. There, Kathy taught English in the Flagstaff Schools and content area reading at Northern Arizona University.
